Welcome Home Virginia - Amanda C.

Team Dalton Subaru and Humble Design San Diego had the honor of serving Virginia. Virginia has overcome incredible adversity, and we were thrilled to be part of her story as we created a new space for her and her family to call home. Virginia had been experiencing homelessness and the challenges of substance use when she lost her young son. However, she never lost hope and continued to fight for her health and for her family. She found a supportive community at East County Transitional Living Center wherein she reignited her faith, and she’s made huge strides toward healing and building a happy, healthy life. Finally, she was able to secure housing for her and her two children, ages 5 and 9, and her elder children visit often. Her case manager, Victoria of East County Transitional Living Center and our team— in partnership with a wonderful group of volunteers from Subaru Dalton and Subaru of America — got to watch Virginia and her two children step into their new home together. Gasps of joy followed, and as Virginia’s jaw dropped, she exclaimed “this is exactly how I envisioned it!” They took in each texture, bounced on their new comfy couch and tried out their new dining room chairs with big smiles. Their pure bliss was felt by all. For the first time in many long years, dedicated and resilient Virginia and her two young kids have a place to enjoy home-cooked meals, host big, loving family gatherings, and work on homework in the safe quietude of their new home.

From all of us at SBCS, thank you to Dalton Subaru and Operation Warm for providing new shoes and warm coats to more than 100 children in San Diego County! Your heartfelt effort brought smiles to a lot of faces and showcases what we can achieve when we come together to support our neighbors. Your support makes a real difference. This week, these great kids will head to school confident in their new clothes, warm, and ready to learn. For their parents, you’ve taken one thing off their very full plates. I had the pleasure of coordinating our Operation Warm Event at Dalton Subaru with SBCS. We donated over 200 new coats and shoes to families in need at SBCS. It filled out hearts to be able to provide the gift of a warm coat and brand new shoes and socks to children in our community. Thank you for Subaru of America, Operation Warm and Dalton Subaru for giving back to our community.

San Diego Subies Club Meeting - Rosie L.

Dalton Subaru was so generous to open up their space for San Diego Subies to have our monthly mandatory meet there. We kicked off the beginning of the year at their beautiful facility with welcoming team members the moment we walked in! Their gratitude towards us is what makes us always want to work with them. Their friendly gestures and welcoming environment is why we recommend them for any services needed for Subarus! We had a great time viewing their pet friendly facility, enjoyed seeing our cars parked in their service area, enjoyed the Jersey mikes that they provided for us and connected with their staff on a personal level. San Diego Subie Club 2024 Meeting Kick-Off - Joshua S.

Dalton Subaru opened their location and space up to the San Diego Subies Club for their yearly mandatory kick off. Food and drinks from Jersey Mikes were provided as well as a large space for their members of 40+ guest list. WIth the available space the group was able to chat about their plans and efforts for the 2024 calendar year! Dalton Subaru announced their partnership with the San Diego Subies Club which helps keep their Subaru vehicles up and going with exclusive benefits for shopping and servicing with Dalton. Having quality meetings such as this help ensure quality turn outs to local community at large. Plus! All the while having fun with their well invested Subaru vehicles!

Meet Max! - Ashley M.

Meet Max. He is a 2 year old red and white Siberian Husky that entered our care on 10/6/2022. He took time to adjust to new people, but enjoyed seeing staff each day. His favorite game is “catch me if you can”, which he was notorious for winning, and he LOVES treats! Max sat in his kennel day after day for over a year… without a single family asking to meet him! We were thrilled when a family finally came in to meet him! On 10/10/2023 Max was finally adopted!! He now has a sister, Eve, who shares in his love of play and makes a great cuddle buddy. Max is learning it’s okay to leave the park, because he’ll be back again soon! Next month Max, Eve, and their family make the big move to Virginia where he will get to experience the changing of seasons and maybe even SNOW! Thank you to Dalton Subaru for partnering with us during the month of October and covering all the adoption fees. Subaru Loves Pets and so does Dalton Subaru.

Make A Wish San Diego - Anna B.

Make-A-Wish San Diego is a non-profit organization that creates life-changing wishes for kids with critical illnesses. The children we serve are fighting for their lives and our purpose is to bring light and joy during this tough time. Dalton Subaru stepped in and was able to make this happen for a 15-year boy battling cancer. He wished for a gaming computer set up in his room so he could enjoy his space more and connect with his friends through gaming. The Subaru team arrived, in high spirits and took charge in assembling the items for his room and hooking up his computer. They generously donated $1000 towards his wish, making such a big difference. We are extremely grateful to Monica and the entire Subaru Dalton team for their generosity, enthusiasm, and commitment in granting high quality wishes for our kids.

We had a memorable morning with San Diego Rescue Mission at a homeless safe sleep site. Dalton Subaru's team helped support those in need with their donation of clean under garments, along with gently used clothing and serving the community a healthy lunch. On behalf of all the teachers, staff, and students at Olivewood Elementary, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dalton Subaru in National City, CA for your generous support and your commitment to education. Your donation provided 6 new teachers with $500 each of flexible funding to purchase school supplies and resources. It was a nice surprise for these new teachers and their students when they found out they were selected to receive this contribution. Once again, thank you, Dalton Subaru, for your support in making a difference in the lives of our teachers and students here at Olivewood Elementary.

Miracle Babies is a San Diego based non-profit dedicated to helping perinatal families during their time of need by providing transportation, mental health assistance and supportive services. For the past four years every July Miracle Babies has hosted Christmas in July for families with hospitalized infants. Holidays bring mixed emotions of happiness and sadness to many of our Miracle Babies' families. Our toy drives in July and December give our NICU families a sense of hope. The majority of the families we serve are from low-income households and can’t afford nor have the time to buy their children holiday gifts. Our toy drives bring a ray of sunshine and happiness to families in need. For this reason, we hold two toy drives a year to support our NICU families. Thank you, Dalton Subaru, for supporting Miracle Babies Christmas In July benefitting parents with babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and their siblings. With support from Dalton Subaru Miracle Babies was able to gift 250 + new toys and gifts for NICU babies and their siblings. Dalton Subaru featured collection boxes in their showroom for employees and customers to donate new toys for parents during a very scary and uncertain time with their hospitalized infants. We are extremely grateful to Monica S and the entire team at Dalton Subaru for their generosity and commitment to the community helping those in need.

Having Dalton Subaru be our host for our monthly members meeting in August was amazing! Their beautiful facilities were neatly laid out with plenty of room for our 35+ members to sit and discuss our club matters. They even have an outside area for our furry family members to have their own bathroom break! Dalton Subaru provided pizza and sodas for our members also, which was greatly appreciated. As an event coordinator, I would have to pick locations per month for us to do our members meetings, and with a busy summer in San Diego, it’s hard to get a big location that can accommodate such a large group. When Dalton Subaru offered their location, it turned into a fun and productive Sunday! All their employees were welcoming, including Josh and Monica who helped us organize this event. We can’t wait to continue working with Dalton Subaru for future events!!

Dalton Subaru National City invited the local National City Fire & Police Departments along with public officials to honor the Heroes of National City. They showed their gratitude and thanked the Heroes of National City for serving and protecting the National City Community. They served donuts, coffee and had great conversations with the Dalton Subaru Team Members and the National City First Responders.

Subaru Loves to Care - Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center - Abbey G.

On July 10th, in partnership with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society®, Dalton Subaru National City donated 80 plush blankets and 50 Patient Care Kits to Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center. This is the eight year in a row that LLS has been selected by Subaru of America to carry out their Subaru Loves to Care® program across the nation. Scripps Mercy Hospital, San Diego, is part of Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center — a clinically integrated cancer care program that treats patients throughout San Diego County. Dalton Subaru National City is one of the many Subaru retailers nationwide participating in the Subaru Loves to Care program. This program has allowed Subaru retailers across the U.S. to donate blankets and arts and crafts kits, along with care, hope, and information about cancer support available through the LLS.

Humble Design and Dalton Subaru - a Partnership to End Homelessness - Amanda C.

Humble Design San Diego is a nonprofit interior design company serving families, veterans, and individuals emerging out of homelessness. Using furniture and home goods donated by the community, Team Humble transforms empty houses into custom homes for our clients, helping them to break their cycle of homelessness for good. Humble was delighted to visit the team at Dalton Subaru last month at their dealership to celebrate our partnership! Dalton Subaru has been a committed partner of Humble Design since we arrived in San Diego. Through their Subaru Share The Love® Event, Dalton Subaru has generously donated funds that will allow us to fully-furnish the homes of two clients emerging out of homelessness. We are beyond grateful for their ongoing support as we serve those who rely on the generosity of companies like theirs to invest in their well-being. Rady Children’s Hospital is extremely grateful for the support of Dalton Subaru during the 2022 Subaru Share the Love® Event. We received a $21,000 donation for the Heart Institute, which allows us to continue to provide cutting edge medical care including our 3-D heart modeling program where we use life-like models to practice and train for complex procedures. Our Heart Institute is ranked the #1 pediatric heart program on the West Coast and #11 in the nation for pediatric cardiology and heart surgery (US News and World Report). Thanks to your generous gift, our Heart Institute has been able to provide over 54 heart transplants to date through our region’s only dedicated pediatric heart failure and transplant program. We are leading the industry in innovative care, including being the first in the world to perform a nonsurgical, catheter-only procedure in a patient with single-ventricle congenital heart disease and we are currently involved in over 65 research studies which are among the nation’s most sophisticated. Rady Children’s Heart Institute’s medical and surgical outcomes for cardiac care are top in the United States. More than a pair of socks ... - Cara M.

Living on the streets is about surviving. Your body is in a constant state of stress which negatively affects your physical and mental health. Rest and hygiene are near impossible. There are single parents with kids, aged-out foster kids, veterans, seniors, people with disabilities and mental health afflictions. Each day, you must find food and shelter. Showers, clean clothes and restrooms are luxuries that are difficult to find. One of the most requested items is socks. A clean pair of socks can do wonders for people experiencing homelessness. The socks help with comfort, hygiene, warmth and dignity. When you are on your feet most of the day, a good pair of socks can deter infection and injuries. The Subaru socks donations help the SD Rescue Mission better serve the community. Being able to provide socks and hygiene items addresses an urgent need, but also allows us to build relationships with people on the streets so we can help them get off the streets immediately and, ultimately, permanently. Beach Cleanup for Earth Day with San Diego Subies! - Rosie L.

Big shout out to Dalton Subaru for supporting our annual Beach cleanup for Earth Day with San Diego Subies! This year, we received trash pickers, reusable green bags, and stickers that we were able to share with everyone. With the supplies that we received, we were able to pick up 1,160 pounds of trash within three hours. Our original goal was 500 pounds, but we surpassed that! Without the help of Dalton Subaru, we would not be able to collect as much trash as we did. This event was able to bring together, San Diego Subies along with Dalton Subaru and an open invitation to Subaru ambassadors to join us. We even had Subaru ambassadors from a different state join in on the cleanup. It was fun, educational, and taught us a lot about giving back to the community. Humble Design Home Transformation: Welcome Home, Amanda - Laura L.

Humble Design San Diego is a nonprofit interior design company serving families, veterans, and individuals emerging out of homelessness. Using furniture and home goods donated by the community, Team Humble transforms empty houses into custom homes for our clients, helping them to break their cycle of homelessness for good. The team at Dalton Subaru has been a committed partner of Humble Design since we arrived in San Diego. This January, we were honored to work together in service to a single mom and her three beautiful boys to give them a lovely, comfortable home. The Dalton Subaru team rolled up their sleeves to build furniture, hang art, set the table, and even engaged in some last-minute heroics, rushing out to purchase a new bunkbed when the one we had brought for the family--which had been proudly displayed in the Dalton Subaru showroom during the recent Subaru Share the Love Event!--would not fit through the hallway to the boys' bedroom. The family's home turned out beautifully and seeing the joy and relief on the family's faces when they came home to their new space was uplifting and inspiring. We are beyond grateful to the Dalton Subaru team for heartfelt, sustaining, and sustained support of our mission and of the inspiring people we serve who are leaving homelessness for good.

Mocha's Story of Love - Ashley M.

Subaru Loves Pets 2022 was a month-long sponsored adoption event between Frank Subaru and Chula Vista Animal Care Facility between October 1st and October 31st at the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility. We totaled 31 Subaru sponsored adoptions for the month of October! One of these adoptions was Mocha, formerly Latte. Mocha is a loving but very high-energy pit-bull mix. She had been with Chula Vista Animal Care Facility since May 3rd, 2022. Mocha had some interest over the last few months, but her level of energy had proven more than the adopters were prepared for. Fortunately, the Ortega family fell in love! Mocha’s delight in playing with just about anything and love of, well, loves was just what they were looking for! The staff were so excited to finally give Mocha the loving send-off we hope to give all our residents! Thanks Frank Subaru (and their supportive staff: Josh, Michael, Nick and Monica) for promoting our residents and month-long adoption event, helping us find these kiddos their furever homes!

2022 Surf Dog Surf-a-thon - Barry S.

Helen Woodward Animal Center would like to thank Frank Subaru for being a sponsor of our 2022 Surf Dog Surf-a-thon to help raise awareness about pet adoption and life-saving funds to help provide our programs for orphan pets in need including the over 4,000 cats and dogs we will place this year alone. This year’s Surf Dog Surf-a-thon brought together animal-loving beach goers from all over San Diego to see over 50 surfing dog "hang 20" at Dog Beach Del Mar – all for a good cause! Events like Surf Dog showcase the human-animal bond and the beauty of rescue in a most profound and entertaining way. We are honored by our ongoing partnership with Frank Subaru and share their passion for pets and the joy they bring to our lives.

Make-A-Wish San Diego Trailblaze Challenge - Grace J.

On May 22nd, team Frank Subaru participated in their second year of the Make-A-Wish® San Diego Trailblaze Challenge. The Trailblaze Challenge is a one-day 28-mile trek on the Pacific Crest Trail; where hikers challenge themselves physically and emotionally as they raise much needed funds to grant the wishes of children in San Diego with critical illnesses. Much like Subaru, the Trailblaze Challenge Loves the Earth – promoting Leave No Trace principles and encouraging hikers to minimize trail impact and clean up the trails while training. Nick and Taylor took on the challenge in this record-breaking year, helping to grant even more life-changing wishes, like Pablo’s wish to have a camping trailer. Pablo, age 6, has been diagnosed with a very rare metabolic disorder. His condition makes it difficult for him to travel due to frequent nausea, lethargy, dehydration, and occasional seizures. Despite these symptoms affecting so many aspects of his daily life, he has a deep desire for adventure and exploration. When he was referred to Make-A-Wish, Pablo quickly shared his wish was to have a camping trailer. He loved the idea of visiting new places and sharing the experience with his family, and the camping trailer would make that possible. When his wish was granted, he jumped up and down with excitement. Pablo and his family are looking forward to experiencing the joy their camping trailer will bring as they explore the great outdoors without worry. A wish experience gives children and families renewed energy and strength. We are so grateful for Frank Subaru’s incredible impact and commitment to supporting wishes granted in our community – thank you! On June 6, in partnership with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Frank Subaru donated 80 plush blankets to Prebys Cancer Center – Scripps Health. This is the seventh year in a row that LLS has been selected by Subaru of America to carry out their Subaru Loves to Care program across the nation. Prebys Cancer Center, located on the campus of Scripps Mercy Hospital, San Diego, is part of Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center — a clinically integrated cancer care program that treats patients throughout San Diego County. Frank Subaru is one of the many Subaru retailers nationwide participating in the Subaru Loves to Care program. This program has allowed Subaru retailers across the U.S. to donate over 230,000 blankets and 31,000 arts and crafts kits, along with care, hope, and information about cancer support available through the LLS.

This generous gift will support our core mission services for families whose children are being treated for serious, often life-threatening conditions at San Diego hospitals. Frank Subaru’s generosity will help to keep lodging, meals, and other daily necessities available free of charge to families in need – all in a welcoming environment just a short walk from their child’s hospital bedside. With Frank Subaru's contributions, we were able to provide our growing community of active, outdoor, camping, Subaru enthusiasts emergency safety gear and products to further enjoy/encourage an active lifestyle. We have diligently continued to be active members in our local Subaru communities, promoting outdoor lifestyles and ultimately enjoying the outdoors. Most of our outdoor travels involve the use of primitive campsites, where we demonstrate respectful camping, camping hacks, and tips on how to make yourself ready for the outdoors. With the support from Frank Subaru, we have been able to continue encouraging more people to explore the outdoors by giving them products they will be able to use during their next adventure!
